If you order roll transfers or gang sheets, you’ll cut the designs apart yourself before pressing. It’s quick — here’s how to do it cleanly.
Pre-cut vs cut-it-yourself
- Pre-cut transfers are individually cut for you (+$0.15 each) — no trimming needed.
- Roll / gang sheet transfers come with multiple designs on one film; you cut them apart.
What you need
- Sharp scissors (or a craft knife and cutting mat for detailed designs).
- A clean, flat surface.
How to trim
- Leave a small margin — about ⅛ to ¼ inch of clear film around each design. You don’t need to cut on the exact edge.
- Cut between designs to separate them into individual transfers.
- For tight gaps, a craft knife gives more control than scissors.
- Keep the carrier film intact over the design — only trim the empty film around it.
Tips for clean results
- Don’t cut into the printed design — the clear margin presses invisibly.
- Cut in good light so you can see the film edges.
- Trimming a stack? Cut a few at a time for accuracy.
- Store leftovers flat — see how to store DTF transfers.
