Applying a DTF transfer takes under a minute once your press is set up. Always follow the specific instructions included with your order — film types vary — but here is the general process.
What you need
- A heat press (a household iron is not reliable for DTF).
- Your DTF transfer and garment.
- Optional: a heat-resistant cover sheet (parchment or PTFE).
Step by step
- Pre-press the garment for ~5 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles.
- Position the transfer film-side up where you want the design.
- Press at about 300–320°F (150–160°C) for 10–15 seconds with medium pressure.
- Peel the film — hot or cold depending on your film type.
- Final press for ~5 seconds (a cover sheet helps) to lock in durability and finish.
Caring for your prints
- Wash inside-out in cold water.
- Avoid high-heat drying; hang-dry or tumble low.
- Skip bleach and harsh detergents.
