How to Choose the Right DTF Transfer Size

Picking the right size makes your design look intentional and professional. Here’s a quick guide to common DTF transfer sizes and where they work best.

Measure your print area, not the garment

Decide how big the design should be, then match it to a transfer size. A tape measure on a finished garment is the easiest way to visualize it before you order.

Common sizes and placements

PlacementTypical sizeGood transfer sizes
Left chest / pocket logo3”–4” wide3×3, 4×4
Youth front6”–8” wide6×6, 8×8
Adult front10”–12” wide10×10, 11×11
Full back11”–12” wide11×14, 12×17
Hats / sleeves2”–4” wide2×2, 4×2

Tips

  • Round up, not down — a slightly larger transfer gives you room to position it.
  • Left-chest logos usually sit 7”–9” down from the shoulder seam, centered over the chest.
  • Adult front prints typically start ~3”–4” below the collar.
  • Not sure? Order a size with a little margin — you can always position a smaller design inside a larger transfer.
